Monday Mischief 20: Up – and Down – One Canine
January 26, 2014 27 Comments
The past few days, we saw both a loss, and a gain, in canine.
The loss, was Moses’ canine. The x-ray showed the tooth should be removed. And removal then confirmed it – the tooh wasn’t super healthy, so extraction was definitely in Moses’ best interests.
(Gross photo warning in 3… 2… )
Moses was allowed back on regular exercise the next day, and has been recovering well. He gets pain killers once a day and antibiotics twice a day, and is otherwise doing well. Soft food is a must, but on a raw diet, we just need to make sure it’s fully thawed.
BUT, we also gained a canine!
After nearly a month away, Alma and the Husband are home for some well-deserved time off.
Who knows – maybe Alma can help keep Mo’s mind off his sore face while he heals up.
And we even went to Nose Hill Park, and it was completely enjoyable and uneventful.
So, not much mischief to speak of, but that’s intentional this weekend.
This post is part of the Mischief Monday blog hop – to see what everyone else has been up to, click here, here, or here.
Poor baby! I’m glad his mouth is healing. Another playmate will keep him occupied. He is just so handsome! ❤
After having just dealt with Wilhelm having two molars removed, I think those pesky teeth count as mischief! I was bummed I forgot to ask the vet for the bad teeth but seeing your photo… nah. Yuck.
Moses’ tooth is huge! I should send you a picture of Onyxx’s teeth for comparison. Hope Alma is sufficiently distracting.
Yikes! Hope Mose’s mouth feels better soon. My Tucker had to have two teeth pulled. (He broke them chewing on antlers; who woulda thunk?) I think he like having the soft food; he got something the other dogs didn’t.

Glad to hear the extraction went well!
Hi Y’all!
Hope you enjoy havin’ Alma home, Moses. Get well quickly!
Y’all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Poor guy. I hope he feels better soon. Having Alma home will help him I’m sure.
Glad to hear he is healing! That is not fun — for all of you, I’m sure!
That is one big tooth! Glad that all went well with the extraction and that Moses is doing well!
I bet Alma will cheer him up too 🙂
I’m lookin’ and lookin’ at that handsome face and not seeing any swelling. You puttin’ us on?
Glad to hear Moses is healing well and the family is all together again.
Oh my!! That is quite a canine. Our Isis had root canals on all four of hers, because they were worn down like that. We finally figured out that a combination of allergies and anxiety caused her to chew on her legs, which is what wore down the teeth. It was very expensive, and unfortunately, we’d already had one vet dentist visit before getting pet insurance, so VPI was able to call it a pre-existing condition, even though she hadn’t technically been diagnosed as needing a root canal yet. Get well soon, Moses!
Hope Moses is all better soon. 🙂 I think the real mischief is that it appears that you have way less snow than we do!
Poor Moses…Jack suggests some ice cream – really, it’s just to help numb the pain he says 🙂
Poor Moses! Hope he heals up quickly!
Moses I hope you are feeling better soon! Love Dolly
Poor Moses, here’s hoping for a speedy recovery.
Aw poor Moses, I hope he feels better soon! Glad to hear Alma’s home and helping to distract him. 🙂
Holy woof – that’s one huge tooth! *Waggy tail*
Glad to hear that he is recovering well. I went through that this past summer. I was actually quite surprised with how much tooth is below the gum line.
I missed that Alma and your husband were away. I’m glad you have them back, and that Moses didn’t have trouble with the extraction.
Poor Moses! Hope he is getting better soon or at least feels less painful while playing with Alma.
That’s a tough tooth to have removed. Hope the healing goes well!
Awww….poor Moses. Glad everything went smooth and he’s recovering nicely.
And glad you have your Hubby and Alma back home. I’m so behind on my blogging I hadn’t realized they were away! Hope they went somewhere fun. 🙂
Glad he is healing up well after his tooth removal. My dog had to have a tooth removed as well (had cracked it after chewing on something hard), and he didn’t seem bothered by the fact that it was gone. He healed up pretty quickly as well.
Wow that’s a great photo of the tooth. Must have been so painful. Nice quarter comparison.
I hope Moses heals up quickly.
