Monday Mischief 14: Oceanfront Park

As I mentioned yesterday, the Husband and I recently packed up the dogs and headed west to Vancouver Island.

One of many great parts about the vacation was being able to take the dogs to one of the nicest off leash parks – with a couple kilometres of beach in Victoria, BC.

To be honest, there was a lot of fun to be had, but not a lot of mischief! One of the impressive things about the park was how clean it was and how well behaved all the dogs seemed to be each time we went.  Moses and Alma had a blast!

No hesitation from Alma.

For Alma, it was her first visit to the ocean (Moses’ second).

Did you wave to us across the straight while you were in Cascadia?! Looks like great fun! We haven’t been to Victoria in WAY too long. It was that sunny for us when we visited too but we went in February.

  3. Lovely dog park. The Newfies are lucky!

    Beautiful place and beautiful pictures!

    ps I am reading backwards…lol.

  5. It looks like they both had a blast! What a great way to spend the day, at a beautiful beach!

  6. Oh that looks glorious, so beautiful!!!

They look like two very happy Newfs!

Omigoodness. They’re mammoth. That looks like so much fun! How much water time does it take for the undercoat to get good and wet?

It takes a while! If they’re running in and out of the water a lot, they’ll stay dry next to their skin, but the way Moses relaxes by laying right down, he gets a bit wetter. Alma runs around so much she’s practically dry by the time we get back to the vehicle.

I love watching Alma ‘surfing’! The beach is the best and that looks like a really nice one!

So what happens next? Do you put them in the car wet? Do they have to have a bath when they get home? My Mum worries about taking me to the beach cos of my coat and all the salt on my skin, does it bother them?

    Have fun,

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

Alma runs around so much at the park that she’s practically dry by the time we leave, but Moses is a bit soggier. We’ll towel dry him, but since we were on the coast, there was little point in bathing them since we’d be going back to that park. And with Newfs, we only give them full-on baths a couple times a year; their water-resistant coats means they stay dry next to their skin and the salt water isn’t a problem (well, except for the smell…).

  11. Those are really awesome photos! They do look like mammoth. How do you fit them in your tiny sapien vehicles?

    • thatjenk says:

Haha. We definitely took the dogs vehicle shopping last time we went so we could get an SUV big enough – the 3rd row folds down and that space is all theirs.

  12. Great photos. Looks like a fun time. We just got back from vacation in Hawaii. Unfortunately for Rita, she didn’t get to come along! Oh, so many places to see… so little time!
