Wordless Wednesday 11: Dogs of the Dominican Republic

Wordless Wednesday: Dominican Republic Edition

Last week, the Husband and I joined some friends for a week on the  Samaná peninsula in the Dominican Republic for some sun, sand, and a beautiful wedding ceremony.

On Saturday, a few of us went on the “Walk the Plank” zip line excursion, which involved 12 different zip lines totalling over 5,000 feet long – it was ridiculously fun!  If you’re ever in the neighbourhood, don’t pass it up.

After the zip-lining, and swimming beneath a waterfall, we stopped at a beach for some fresh beverages

REALLY fresh beverages

And during our break, we had some company.

And it wasn’t just canine company.

Sure made me realise the week was practically over and I was about ready to come home to our own furballs.

Oh, and the beach was pretty nice too.

Sounds like a wonderful week. Beautiful pictures, especially the dogs and kitty. I could go for a fresh beverage on the beach. 🙂

Gorgeous! I am so glad you got to go on such a fabulous holiday! I have never been further south than Minnesota so I am more than a little jealous.

I have heard about that zip-line before from another friend. It actually inspired me to find a similar place in my own part of the world. While the one in Pictou County, Nova Scotia isn’t nearly as impressive, it was still a blast. Maybe one day I’ll make it there… One day…

    Thanks for sharing your photos!

Oh I highly recommend a Caribbean vacation – especially when the snow starts to fly here! Dominican was very nice, and the zip line was a blast! Actually makes me want to go try the one a C.O.P. – I didn’t even know they had one, but apparently it’s pretty steep. Probably a summer activity, though.

Those dogs are in pretty good shape for island dogs – tourism must be doing well. It’s remarkable how much the face of that first one resembles my Bella’s.

Looks like you had a lovely holiday. The pictures are beautiful

Thanks! The puppy was actually quite scrawny, but I definitely got the impression they were all “owned” by the staff there and got decent care – and definitely a lot of love from the tourists!

  4. They look really mellow. Maybe it’s because they are beach bums. Lucky dogz.

  5. I like the new look!

I could use a beach vacation about now…. Who babysat the pups while you were away??

Thanks! Decided it was time to move away from the blue.

Moses went with our friends who have Jasper the Duck Toller. Alma went with friends who have Dion, the Golden Retriever (and we currently have Dion this week). Apparently they were both on their best behaviour!

Looks like a beautiful place to get away and relax and have a bit of fun!
    Beautiful pictures!

Looking at these pictures made me think of my vacation in Hawaii so very long ago. I miss those days. Time to start saving for a vacation once again!

  9. Great pics. Even the animals go to the tourists for handouts, huh? 🙂
